These photos are to share the beauty of our land south of Cheney, Washington. We are in process of creating a home on the land. Please feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts.
These photos are rather large so if you are on a slow feed please be patient.
By the 3rd week of October we have all our structural steel in place and are beginning windows and siding. Only last Monday we were hoisting our first roof beam. Now it seems long ago.
Here are the recent photos.

Over the weekend we framed in the large 12 x 12 door on the east side, completing the large steel. Here is a view from the southwest.
Here is a view looking from the east toward the large doorframe.
Here is another view of the steel structure nestled among the trees.
On Monday we began installing our doors. and windows in wood frames. There is also a 3x3 steel "L" on the perimeter of the concrete foundation where siding will attach.

The widow trim was not delivered yet so we worked on windows on Monday and Tuesday. Compare this photo with the Monday one above. On Wednesday we drove to Seattle to buy a scissor lift to help us work on the higher places. The one-day trip ran into complications when our Ford pickup lost a transmission hauling a heavy load up a long steep hill. The mechanic I phoned later says that the E4OD transmissions were the worst Ford ever made. Wednesday and then Thursday were lost to the trip, but we got all our vehicles retrieved from alongside the highway and home to our land.
This and the next photos were taken on Friday after we resumed work. We still have to fix the pickup because we need it for our project.
This view is the watch coney's view of the house. Windows in place Friday morning.
This is the scissor lift we bought from Seattle. It makes life easier going up to do work higher than a few feet.
Justin installs the rake angle on the end of the purlins in preparation for siding, which begins on Saturday..
Saturday 10-22-05
We worked on Saturday to make up for missing so much of the week. It took a while getting organized on a new task, but eventually we sorted it all out, read through the plan details again, and put up a first sheet of siding.
Our hired guy, Jeff, had to leave early on Saturday, and Justin works nights so we knocked off in the middle of the afternoon. We had finished siding and trimming one window and put up several pieces of siding. The building comes with 3" R-10 insulation that is installed behind the siding panels. You can see some of it at the top. Our learning curve is picking up speed. The dark green forest color looks great.
Sunday we will work on the pickup transmission.
