These photos are to share the beauty of our land south of Cheney, Washington. We are in process of creating a home on the land. Please feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts.
These photos are rather large so if you are on a slow feed please be patient.
With phase 1 of the home completed and summer at last here it was time to resume walking the land. Here are the recent photos from a walk to on the western part of our land to Rock Lake Road.
One of my frequent walks takes me to the northern boundary of our property and then west to the western part near Rock Lake Road. Here is a view of our house from close to the northern boundary of the property. Even though the house is quite large it blends in well with the trees.
Here you can see another view from the NW of the house.
The upper part of our land has rocky areas with grasslands and trees in clumps or groves.
This is a view looking south from the northern boundary in about the middle of he property. This picture makes an excellent desktop background for your computer screen. To use this, or one of our other photos for a desktop background just right click on the photo and select "Set as Background." You can change them as often as you like. No extra charge.
This is another picture looking south from the north boundary.
The western part of our land drops off once again down to a lower space before you get to Rock Lake Road. From the top of the hill on our north boundary you can see the house of one of our neighbors through the trees.
Here is our western lower area. You can see Rock Lake Road behind some trees.
Here is another view of our lower area near Rock Lake Road.
Our property is legally two 10-acre parcels. When we bought them there was an old camp trailer parked here on the western land. It would make a good site for a house someday if the property were divided.
This is more of the western property. Rock Lake Road is paved and there is more traffic. We like the quiet end of the land better.
Turning back to the east you climb the hill again. Here we are on top of the hill near the southern boundary of our land.
Continuing on to the east here is another view of our western property.
In the spring we get lots of wild flowers.
Walking back along the southern boundary we look north across the large fields again toward where we took the photos above.
The land to our south is much the same as the center of our land. It is a large open ranch area of several hundred acres where the rancher keeps cows in the summer. Here is the fence separating our land from his. When we bought the land there was an old fence running diagonally right through were the house now sits. We took down the old fence and were talking with our neighbor about sharing the cost of a new fence along the property line when he just sent a fence company out to build this one. It only has 3 strands of wire, and Washington State law defines "fence" as having at least 4 strands, but it keeps his cows on his property most of the time.
Continuing eastward we come back to where we can see the house again through the trees. It really isn't obtrusive for all its size. The forest green color helps a lot to blend in with the country. It has a silver roof, but you can't see the roof from anywhere except the sky.
As you approach the house from the SW you can see our pair of satellite dishes for Internet and TV. Out here in the country there aren't any cables but now we can link up directly, 21st century style.
That's enough photos for one page.
