These photos are to share the beauty of our land south of Cheney, Washington. We are in process of creating a home on the land. Please feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts.
It got hot for a few days this summer. Here our tree thermometer is just over 100 F. Despite the heat our home stays pleasant. In the house we warm up to around 80 by late afternoon, and then cool off in the evenings.
One of our summer projects was to make a place for the hot tub west of the house. The next few photos are the hot tub work.
I got to use the dozer (see last page) to scrape off the grass. I formed up for a 6 inch slab to put the hot tub on. Some water pipe and an electric conduit are stubbed into the slab.
This photo shows the hot tub slab completed.
I got the tub moved onto the slab, but I haven't gotten it hooked up yet. Maybe next time.
After getting the tub installed I went back inside and got back to work on the north wall. I had to repair across the ceiling where the old temporary wall was removed. Here it is all masked off ready to paint.
This is a view of the patched ceiling all masked off.
The painting on the north wall and ceiling is going along.
this shows the wall painted. Some masking still needs to come down.
I saw in the paper that a steam train was going to pass through Cheney so I drove into town and took a photo as it went by. You don't see steam trains very often any more.
Winter came early this year. We got some snow early in November. This is the view from the bedroom window.
A couple years ago we bought an old wood stove at a yard sale. I put down some floor tile where it is supposed to go and hooked up the stove pipe, etc. It has a couple of pipes under the floor for combustion air. We planned that years ago before we had the floor poured. Its not a very big stove but our house is well insulated. So far it keeps the whole place warm and cozy.
This is a photo of the NE corner of our home. The wood stove is left. The old living room area is right. Its a nice large homey space now.
Well, that's all the photos for now. When we get something else done I may get around to posting again. Have a great winter.
