The Land at Cheney Washington - Page 5
Well Test

These photos are to share the beauty of our land south of Cheney, Washington. We are in process of creating a home on the land. Please feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts.

These photos are rather large so if you are on a slow feed please be patient.

Before we can get a building permit you have to have a septic tank individual sewage disposal permit. Before you can get a sewage disposal permit you have to have an approved well. Before you can get your well approved you have to pump the well for 4 hours and do some bacterial and chemical tests. We finally found a well man with over 400 feet of test pipe on a reel that can test a deeper well. It's not cheap, but it's getting slowly done. At least we have abundant clear water.

Construction Camp July 25

Here is our construction camp set up to start serious work. We have converted the truck into a shop.

Here is a closer satellite photo of the property. Near the center of this view you can see a rectangular grey area which was the graded house site. The RV and truck are parked nearby. You can also see our curved driveway coming up the hill from Long Rd. I'm amazed at how close the satelite photos are these days. This is not from a military classified system, just from Mapquest.com and available to anyone. You can see individual vehicles (trucks) and trees from space. Try your own address at mapquest.com if you haven't already.

Set up and starting to pump.

We finally got the well test done on July 25. My how time gets by. The test consists of pumping water for 4 hours to see if the water level in the well drops. We have 16 gallons per minute being pumped with no noticeable drop in water level.

Keep on pumping

keep on pumping

We have abundant clean water.

pumping the well

Lots of water

steady at 380 feet

Water level holds steady

yep lots of water

water, water, about 17 gallons per minute with this pump. The well driller said that he got 40 per minute but it takes a really large pump to lift that much.

16 gallons per minute

Our 16 gallons per minute test makes a pretty good flow

work bench

We put the work bench under our camp awning
